Comprehensive Dental Assessment in South West Rocks, Kempsey & Coffs Harbour
Not sure where to start with your dental health? Or maybe it’s been a while and you’re not sure what’s going on in there? A Comprehensive Dental Assessment gives us the full picture of your oral health so we can help you make the best decision for you. That’s not just a phrase. It’s our mission, and this appointment is where it starts.
No rushing into treatment. No pressure to decide on the spot. This is about understanding your situation properly, so whatever you choose to do next, you’re doing it with clear information and a team you trust.
his is Step 1 for all new patients at South West Rocks Dental. And at $199, it’s capped. No surprises, no hidden extras. If you’re an existing patient, your appointment is a Regular Dental Maintenance, which includes your checkup and clean.

WHAT IS A COMPREHENSIVE DENTAL ASSESSMENT?
A Comprehensive Dental Assessment is a thorough, unhurried appointment designed to give both you and our team a complete understanding of your oral health. It’s not a checkup and clean. There’s no clean included at this appointment. It’s a proper clinical assessment that covers everything we need to know to help you make the right decisions for your teeth.
We take the time to understand your concerns, your history, and what you’re hoping to achieve. We use that information to create a personalised treatment plan that reflects your needs and your budget, not a generic checklist.
For existing patients, the Regular Dental Maintenance appointment covers your routine checkup and clean, priced separately at $179. Patients from South West Rocks, Kempsey, and Coffs Harbour start their journey with us here.
WHY WE CAP THE PRICE
The standard fee for this level of assessment is $306. We’ve reduced it to $199 because we believe the two biggest barriers to good oral health are cost and fear. Our Capped Price Care addresses the first one. Our team and our approach address the second. Capped Price Care means exactly what it says.
No matter how long the appointment runs or how much we cover, $199 is the maximum you’ll pay for your Comprehensive Dental Assessment. It won’t go over that figure. The only addition is the optional 3D CBCT upgrade at +$92, and that’s only if we recommend it for your situation.
Prices are a guide only. Your final treatment costs will depend on your individual needs. A personalised quote is provided as part of your assessment.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING YOUR ASSESSMENT
WE LISTEN FIRST
Before anything else, we sit down and talk. We want to know what’s been bothering you, how long it’s been since your last visit, and whether you have any concerns about dental treatment. If you’re anxious, that’s completely fine. We have extensive experience helping nervous patients feel at ease, and we’ll work at your pace throughout.
WE TAKE A THOROUGH LOOK
We use dental photography, 2D X-rays, and bite analysis to get a complete clinical picture. If a 3D CBCT scan is recommended for your situation, we can organise that too. Our CBCT 3D scanner is available onsite, which means fewer referrals and faster answers.
WE BUILD YOUR TREATMENT PLAN
Once we have the full picture, we put together a personalised treatment plan that covers everything you need, listed clearly with associated costs. We explain every item in plain language, answer your questions, and give you the time to think it over. If you need a second appointment to go through your options, that’s included.
YOU DECIDE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Nothing is rushed. Nothing is pressured. Your treatment plan is yours to take home, consider, and discuss. When you’re ready to move forward, we’re here. And if you’d like to explore a structured approach to addressing multiple concerns at once, we’ll also introduce you to SmileRenew™, our signature restoration process for patients dealing with worn, damaged, or broken teeth.

FAQ's: Comprehensive Dental Assessment
I need a referral to book a Comprehensive Dental Assessment?
No referral needed. Simply call us or book online and we’ll get you in. The assessment is your starting point, and everything flows from there.
How long does the appointment take?
Allow around 60 to 90 minutes for your Comprehensive Dental Assessment. We’d rather take the time to do it properly than rush through and miss something important.
What if I haven't been to a dentist in years?
That’s more common than you think, and there’s no judgment here. The assessment is designed to meet you exactly where you are. We’ll find out what’s going on, explain things clearly, and help you figure out a realistic path forward.
Will I need treatment straight away?
Not necessarily. The assessment is about understanding your oral health, not committing to treatment on the spot. You’ll leave with a clear picture of what’s happening and a plan you can consider in your own time.
