Getting Back to Eating Without the Hassle

My father-in-law isn’t the type to make a fuss. Years ago, he lost his lower teeth and got a denture, figuring that was just how things had to be. He made do, but over time, food would constantly get stuck, and he had to be careful about what he ate. Then one day, he lost his denture altogether. That’s when we started talking about what could be done.
The Impact of Missing Teeth

He’d never really considered alternatives because he’d lived with the issue for so long. But eating had become more of a chore than an enjoyment. In our family, food isn’t just about filling up—it’s about connection, sitting down together, and sharing meals. But for him, certain foods were off-limits, and if something got stuck under his denture, he’d have to excuse himself mid-meal to sort it out. It was frustrating and, at times, a little embarrassing.
A Simple, Lasting Solution

When he came in, we took a CBCT and intraoral scan and quickly realised a few implants could give him back the freedom to eat normally—no denture needed. The procedure was straightforward, and in a single appointment, we placed the implants. After that, he let them heal while he travelled (he lives hours away, so this approach worked well for him). A few months later when everything was healed and strong, we restored the implants to regain full function in his lower jaw – no need for a lower denture ever again!
The Outcome: Eating Without Worry
Now, he eats whatever he likes. No more discomfort, no more interruptions, just food the way it should be enjoyed. Seeing the change in him made me realise just how much we take teeth for granted—until they’re gone. Restoring function isn’t just about eating; it’s about confidence, ease, and quality of life.
Thinking About Implants?
If you or someone you know is struggling with dentures or missing teeth, it’s worth a chat. Many people don’t realise what’s possible, and often, it’s an easier process than expected. You can learn more about how it works here:
